Angthong National Marine Park Big boat

Angthong National Marine Park Big boat

Angthong Marine Park. You’ll be able to see the Emerald Lake, the viewpoint, the Lotus cave or go snorkeling and sunbathing. An optional extra is to go kayaking around Koh Mae Ko, which is an amazing way to see the islands up close.

Not worth it.

This is a very long day, the boat journey to the islands is nearly 3 hours long. The boats was rammed and so you end up sat in the same place for the entire journey. It was probably close on 100 people on board, and although they gave out life jackets there was no safety brief. The jackets were also taken away from you for the return. The food served at lunch time was basic and with so many on board, you would be lucky to have it warm. The kayaking was pleasant and not to strenuous. There were two stops, the first at the lagoon. To get to the lagoon you had to climb extremely steep narrow steps. Coming down them was something of a challenge, you need to be sure footed and reasonably fit. The second stop for two hours at a beautiful beach. You could climb to a view point or do a trek but they said it would take an hour there and back. It was high and no doubt steep . As for Snorkeling there is not a lot to see. So 6 hours in a cramped uncomfortable boat for 3 hours ashore definitely not worth it. I would not recommend.

Nice to see but not in these conditions

The Angthong maritime park is surely worth being visited. Very beautiful maritime landscape ; magic view from the view point that you can reach after 30 mn walking / climbing and... sweating (good physical condition required). The 20 mn kayaking are rather entertaining and anyway more than the short walk to the disappointing Emerald lake and the snorkeling, that gives you no chance to see anything valuable where it was proposed to practice it. But the travel conditions we experienced are definitely much less positive. Not that much the lenght of the travel between Ko Samui and the maritime park (1h45 mn each way), that we knew in advance and that we had chosen (versus the faster trip in Speed boat) for the possibility to move on the boat. But all the rest ! This was mainly due to the extremely high number of passengers on the boat (120 persons on the day we did it, while the travel agency had promised 80 max). This made everything uncomfortable (the least that can be said) and lenghty. Imagine these 120 people queuing at the lunch buffet served on the boat (and the quality of the lunch did not justify it, I can assure you) and trying to find a seat. The transfers between the big boat and the islands (in long tail boats) took also a lot of time (note : speed boat can reach directly the islands). And this is also without considering all the other tourists (and also possibly local pupils) doing the same kind of tour with other boats...Think of it when choosing an option for your tour.

Too long and a lot of sitting around waiting to move on

Very long day , great value . If you don’t want to climb to the view points or kayak there’s little else to do . The National parks are all ‘dry’ areas . Have done a few boat trips and this was not the best.

Little rain didn’t hurt anyone! I had a great time.at first it seemed like a lot of people, but they were organized and had plenty of food and drinks for everyone. The Marine park was amazing. It’s a tough climb but worth it! It starting to pour and we got very wet but still went to the laguna and sea kayaked. The rain added to the adventure.

Amazing experience. I was a little hesitant about the experience looking at some of the reviews but it was an amazing experience. The views were incredible, the activities were well planned and it was great value for money. Special thanks to all their staff for being so helpful. One of them even gave us water during the climb as we forgot to take our own. Only complaint : Please have something for vegetarians in the lunch option, even if only gravy. Will recommend vegetarians to keep something with themselves as an option, otherwise highly recommended!

Super user friendly website and easy to book your daily trips. To us, they offered cheaper excursions than the agencies we visited. Easy payment via website and overall very good experience.

An interesting trip with swimming & snorkeling opportunities & lovely views if you have the physical capability for some steep r

Prompt collection from resort took us to the dock where we paid our THB300 each for National Park entry and boarded the boat. Our trip was little over half full, so plenty of space. A light breakfast was available on arrival with drinks throughout the trip. Staff were helpful & friendly. Trip to the small islands took over one hour. Boat was too big to reach the pontoon so we all transferred to smaller long-tailed boats for the final few metres (for each stop). The first stop had a large beach area and good cafe, toilets etc. Main activity was a steep climb up to a viewing point. This was very tiring but good fun & rewarding for those able to do it. Plenty of time (approx 2 hours) was given for this plus swimming (snorkels available) and refreshments. During a further boat trip, a fixed menu lunch was served. Not to everyone's liking, but good for most. We then visited a second island with small beach and snorkeling area plus opportunity for another climb to see the Blue Lagoon. Not as tough as the first climb but still quite demanding. Very scenic views were the reward. Those opting to include kayaking did so here. After this, the long trip back with further refreshments. Overall, a tiring but fun day. Minor issues included poor speaker quality on the boat such that the English announcements (with strong Thai accent) became unintelligible, so we had to seek guidance from staff at each stop.

Always an amazing experience with absolutely the best tour guide ever and her name is Cristina. The only way to see Anthong marine park, which is extremely beautiful and the best company to go with.

Best tour you can get for a reasonable price. Pickup without issues, very good lunch, well structured, nice staff. We spent enough time at every location. The hike to the viewpoint is tough, even for well trained people, but very worth it. Bring water, sunscreen and comfortable shoes. Paying extra for the kayak is worth the price. All in all one of our greatest experiences in Thailand.
